Muddy Waters

I would like to take a moment to appreciate the pure awesomeness that is Muddy Waters. More so, the moments at work when he comes on my playlist and every worry is dissipated by his one-up-manship when it comes to the blues.

Silver Lake

This is a short post and purpose is simple. I love walking and I love walking around the Silver Lake Reservoir. On a lazy Sunday- grab a brunch and take a walk. You'll easily fall in love with this routine.

Terminally Hip on the Web

So get this, Grizzly Bear, doing "Knife," sponsored by "A Take Away Show" (La Blogotheque) in PARIS. I think I just died and went to hipster heaven. But, alas. I will not hide my love for Grizzly Bear in the raw! Watch and enjoy... in the end it's just a bunch of bro's in flannel harmonizing.

For those that don't know La Blogotheque- visit the website!

Wikipedia on the creator of "La Blogotheque"

"He (Vincent Moon) has been living on the road since January 2009, experimenting on nomadic cinema and traveling to film rare musicians around the world. He now works alone or with people he finds on the road, and most of the time without money involved in the projects, trying to redefine the limits of cinema in the 21st century."

Terminally hip.

Villan's Tavern

It takes every fiber of my being to write this post, as I want to keep my new favorite bar a secret. But that would not be fair to the masses yearning for the experience Villan's Tavern brings to any given night. "Closed" Monday and Tuesday, there packed nights are the weekends. Located downtown in what feels like the middle of a "Law and Order SVU" set, this little hideaway is dark and reminds me somewhat of the swamp house from "Pirates of the Caribbean; Dead Man's Chest." Old bottles line the windows like an "Oregon Trail" General store, and bluegrass music fills the speakers (my personal favorite- Alison Krauss).

For fellow beer nerds: This place also has my favorite beer, Allagash White (made in Maine). It's your kind of beer if you like refreshing, unfiltered Belgian's with complex tastes (not too sweet, like those damn monk beers).

Well just go, I've already said too much.

"Let Me In" vs. "Let The Right One In"

Last night I saw the Matt Reeves remake of the Swedish film "Let The Right One In." Matt Reeves (director of "Cloverfield" and shockingly enough, a few Felicity episodes) did an excellent job of matching the pace of the much-loved Swedish cult film. To my surprise, certain scenes appeared frame for frame, not only in look-a-like locations but extreme attention to detail. The landscape, working as one of the main characters (a frozen, desolate town) translated just as vibrantly in Reeves film as it did in the original. With an overbearing desire to buy the next plane ticket to sunny LA, the frozen tundra left the viewer feeling isolated and removed from humanity (just as the young characters are portrayed to feel).

I say see it if you were a lover of the original; and if you are a horror-film buff, go see a great SCARY movie. (8/10)

"Son's Of Anarchy" is Taking Over my Night-Life

I just discovered the show "Son's of Anarchy" and for all those who have not become hooked on this FX show, join in! It's incredibly well-written and all in all, rather sexy for a show about a gang of northern-Californian bikers. A friend came over last Friday and half way through our 6 hour marathon we made a run to the store- this is what happened. The razors in the center are the clutch hitter that clearly I need to get out more.

Kogi, I love you.

I am a lover of the food trucks. This I know. I did not, however, know that when I arrive at my favorite Burrito shop, only to discover it had closed 2 minutes prior to my arrival, tears swell up (girl really loves her burritos, no news there). The only possible remedy at 8:02 was this Kogi food truck- apparently the only means to stop the tears- A Korean Shrimp Burrito. Good to know.
