"Let Me In" vs. "Let The Right One In"

Last night I saw the Matt Reeves remake of the Swedish film "Let The Right One In." Matt Reeves (director of "Cloverfield" and shockingly enough, a few Felicity episodes) did an excellent job of matching the pace of the much-loved Swedish cult film. To my surprise, certain scenes appeared frame for frame, not only in look-a-like locations but extreme attention to detail. The landscape, working as one of the main characters (a frozen, desolate town) translated just as vibrantly in Reeves film as it did in the original. With an overbearing desire to buy the next plane ticket to sunny LA, the frozen tundra left the viewer feeling isolated and removed from humanity (just as the young characters are portrayed to feel).

I say see it if you were a lover of the original; and if you are a horror-film buff, go see a great SCARY movie. (8/10)

"Son's Of Anarchy" is Taking Over my Night-Life

I just discovered the show "Son's of Anarchy" and for all those who have not become hooked on this FX show, join in! It's incredibly well-written and all in all, rather sexy for a show about a gang of northern-Californian bikers. A friend came over last Friday and half way through our 6 hour marathon we made a run to the store- this is what happened. The razors in the center are the clutch hitter that clearly I need to get out more.

Kogi, I love you.

I am a lover of the food trucks. This I know. I did not, however, know that when I arrive at my favorite Burrito shop, only to discover it had closed 2 minutes prior to my arrival, tears swell up (girl really loves her burritos, no news there). The only possible remedy at 8:02 was this Kogi food truck- apparently the only means to stop the tears- A Korean Shrimp Burrito. Good to know.

Luddite's First Post

I'm joining the blogging world- something I should have done years ago when I was living abroad. My time has come, I'm putting down my luddite sword (which is really just a wooden stick) and joining the inter-web. I just decided to not move for 2 whole years, a great challenge being that I have moved every 6 months or so for the last 5 years- hence "Em The Nomad." So really this blog is already a lie; contradiction in that I am now staying put, while titling "EmNomad." What a good start.

I hope this to a be a project dedicated to Los Angeles: the restaurants, events, and things I find hilarious. I don't know who reads these, so if all else fails- Hi Family!
